The workshop topics listed below are intended as a guide, and coaches will happily tailor the sessions to the needs of the participants - just let us know when you register about your experience, strengths, and areas of development you'd like to work on.
Rough Water Skills – Want to improve your skills and confidence in rough or turbulent conditions? Our rough water skills session will give you the techniques to read the water and become comfortable in chaotic water conditions – surf zones, rock hopping and tidal streams.
Yoga and Sea Kayaking - Boats, balance, core strength and breathing.
Yoga and Sea Kayaking are two disciplines that go together and our mindset is especially relevant when faced with the psychological demands of conditions or even rolling in a pool. Core strength and posture underpin our basic technique and balance is essential. Join me for a day of skills building at an intermediate level, whilst we explore the outstanding coast of Findhorn and the local area.
Greenland Rolling Skills – A relaxed session which builds up confidence with immersion and recovery by using foundation skills of traditional Greenland rolling. The session will help you build some basic skills and drills to take away and develop further. Whether you paddle with a Greenland paddle or Euro blade understanding traditional skills can change your attitude to immersion and develop an alternative roll which does not rely on force applied to the paddle blade. You will work in pairs, start with land drills and take turns at supporting and practicing.
Equipment for Greenland Rolling Workshop -
Dry suit (plenty of warm under-layers that don’t compromise flexibility too much), hood and snorkel mask or goggles and nose clip are useful. Other things which you might have which are useful are a well-fitting spray deck, a paddle which is adjustable to zero feather, a paddle float which you might want to practice with at home following the workshop. This is a Roll DVD by Cheri Perry and Turner Wilson made by Justine Curgenven – Cackle TV is recommended to watch along with some YouTube videos 1
