Getting Started

There are a huge number of different paddlesport activities.  There really is something for everyone! Here are a few tips to find your way if you are new to paddlesport.
How can we get started?

The best way to start is with someone who is qualified and experienced - someone who can show you what to do and explain things - particularly how to stay safe. We have a vast number of qualified coaches, leaders, instructors and guides throughout Scotland.  Some work independently, some volunteer in SCA Affiliated Clubs and some work for SCA Quality Mark Providers.

British Canoeing Delivery Partners

Delivery Partners are organisations who have committed to the British Canoeing Delivery Partner Charter which stipulate our high standards of safety, value for money and customer service.

Being a Delivery Partner is an indication that the partner takes its responsibilities seriously, using highly trained, qualified and competent staff, to deliver a high quality customer focused product. All Delivery Partners have made a commitment to working in environmentally friendly and sustainable ways and are subject to appropriate quality assurance. Find your nearest Delivery Partner here.

Go Paddling Website

The Go Paddling website is the place to go for hints and tips on starting your paddling journey. You can find regular blogs on what boat to choose, or what to wear, safety, awards and you can also find local paddling providers, centres & clubs.

SCA Affiliated Clubs

Joining an SCA Affiliated Club is fun, safe and will help you to master the basic skills more quickly. Clubs welcome new faces and many run taster sessions for potential new members. 90% of people living in Scotland live within 10 miles of an SCA Affiliated Club.
