British Canoeing are once again supporting Surfers Against Sewage on The Big Spring Beach Clean: Summit to Sea between 6-14 April. It’s the UK’s biggest beach clean event and this year, mountain cleans are included for the first time, alongside beach, river and city locations.
The Canoe Foundation will once again be supporting the initiative by funding a number of paddler clean up kits which will be available to clubs.
Chantelle Grundy British Canoeing Access and Environment Officer says
“Following on from a hugely successful Autumn campaign, it’s great to be teaming up with Surfers Against Sewage once again for their Big Spring Beach Clean. Paddlers do a great job improving the health of our waterways by collecting litter from places others cannot reach. We will be encouraging clubs to invite along their local MP to demonstrate how they are part of the solution.”
David Belbin Trustee of the Canoe Foundation says
“The Foundation is very pleased again to be able to support a fantastic initiative to improve the quality of our waterways and environment by funding a number of paddler clean up kits that are available. We hope this also prompts more awareness of and donations to the Foundation so it can continue its work for the benefit of canoeing on our waterways”.
