Thu 22 February 2018
We are delighted to announce that SCA members were presented with awards at the recent British Canoeing Coaching and Leadership Conference.
Dave Rossetter - Geoff Good Award
Dave has been a professional paddlesports coach for many years and is known to most paddlers around Scotland and beyond. His mantra is ‘getting more people boating, more often’ and what many don’t realise is just how much of his free time he devotes to this mantra. As Head of Paddlesports at Glenmore Lodge, he is a role model for many in terms of his technical ability in several disciplines, his sense of adventure and drive for continuous development. He is well known on the club scene and travels the length and breadth of the country helping to support the paddlesport community in all senses.
:I'm very humbled to win this award. It's a feeling of complete shock and complete delight at the same time" – Dave Rossetter
Doug and Lara Cooper - Outstanding Services Award
A surprise award given out during the evening was an Outstanding Services Award to Doug and Lara Cooper.
Doug and Lara have been involved in coaching for over 20 years in a range of roles. Doug has been involved with CSG since it start in 2010 and prior to that was with the UKCMC for a number of years. He has been involved with the Sea Tech Group for over a decade, involved in the role out of the original UKCC awards in 2007 and helped design and pilot the Level 3 award. Recently, Doug has been involved with the Coach award, which he has definitely seen as a highlight, especially evolving the educational content for all the learning support materials with the eLearning and Knowledge bank articles.
Lara has been involved with British Canoeing from 2003, working on Long Term Paddler Development research, then moving into the role of English Coaching Manager for a number of years and has since been instrumental in the development of many awards over a 15 year period, as well as currently being the programme manager for the Level 4 Coaching Diploma.

- "To win this award was a lovely surprise and although we do this for the love of it, it's really nice to be recognised for the work we've done." – Lara Cooper
