Following the recent in depth Membership Review, changes have been made to the terminology of Affiliated Club Members; that is people who are members of SCA Affiliated Clubs and are not also SCA Individual members.
Members of SCA Affiliated Clubs who are not also SCA members, will now be known in SCA terms as a 'Club Associate'.
This name change does not affect the status of current Affiliated Club Members. Club Associates will continue to be insured for recognised club activities and sessions.
In addition, Club Associates are welcome to join the SCA to be insured for peer paddles and activities outside of the club. To find out more about SCA membership, our work to support paddling and many other reasons why you should join us, click here.
- When a club affiliates to SCA they pay a fee based on the number of Club Associates (since 2011).
- Club Associates are then insured for recognised sessions and activities of the club. These members will not be insured if they paddle at other times. SCA membership offers them this insurance.
- If you want to take part in paddling activities outside of those organised by your club, we urge you to purchase your own SCA membership which will give you peace of mind that you are protected and covered for all the paddling you do outside of club trips.
