A month after the British Canoeing Coach Award was introduced we are pleased to report there are now 100 courses scheduled in Scotland in 2018 so far, covering the 2 day core coach training, 2 day disicpline specific training and 1 day assessment. Courses are delivered by a network of 34 licenced tutors and assessors across Scotland and can be access by booking directly with the course provider/organisation. Alternatively, bespoke courses can easily be arranged for small group of candidates by contacting tutors.
The Award is designed for people whose core function is to coach paddlers who want to gain/improve paddlesport skills within the discipline chosen. This will include coaching beginners new to the sport, or paddlers looking to develop their skills in the given discipline or environment. The coach is able to plan, deliver and review progressive sessions safely, effectively and independently.
Don't yet hold any qualiifcations? Direct entry to Coach Award is now possible with no prior pre-requisite qualifications. Check out the free Paddlesport Instructor elearning to assess your current knowledge.
Perhaps you already hold a British Canoeing qualification and wish to achieve Coach Award in another discipline? Some candidates can skip the core or discipline specific training courses. Trainees in Level 2 / MWE / AWE can also smoothly transfer. Find out more about the options.
Scholarship funding of up to 60% is also available via sportscotland
