Doug MacDonald joins the SCA staff team today in the new role of Coach and Pathway Developer. This is an initiative to better support specific coaches and their athletes/paddlers in their local environments, to enable progression along various discipline pathways and in particular to allow young aspiring athletes to reach the standard, at the required time, to join the SCA Performance Programme in Olympic disciplines.
Doug will work closely with Remi Gaspard and the SCA Performance coaches, as well as with Andy Murray and Roger Holmes to support the coaches and athletes, and to signpost coach education and development that will make a real impact.
Doug joins us from Tennis Scotland where he was the Workforce Development Manager. Previously Doug has been responsible for coaching development at Triathlon Scotland and prior to that delivered the sportscotland Coaching Matters performance coach development programme. Outside of this work, Doug works as a performance coach developer and mentor on a number of different development programmes. We welcome Doug into our association and staff team, and wish him every success as he starts this work to link up coaches and their education and development to best support our paddlers.
