River Isla - Blockage Cleared

The SCA is very pleased to announce that after considerable pressure and work, a severe tree blockage on the River Isla in Perthshire, on the stretch between Meigle, and the 'metal bridge' at Aberbothrie has been removed.

The obstacle has been in place for two years, and the work was a result of co-operation between SCA members locally, SEPA, and local landowners. The blockage stretched for 50 metres from its upstream end to the downstream end, and required 4-wheel drive tractors pulling trees out of the river with cables to be cleared. This stretch of river is an easy 5 mile trip through woodland, and very suitable for beginning canoeists and kayakers.
