Young Volunteer Award Conner Mackenzie

We value the hard work of those who contribute to Paddlesports in Scotland and to recognise these people and their time, effort enthusiasm for the sport we have established a number of annual awards to recognise individuals' dedication. We have just hosted our 2018 Recognition Award Celebrations at the National Sports Training Centre Inverclyde where we announced the deserving winners. 

Young Volunteer Award
This new award recognises a young person who is under 19 on 1st January 2018 who commits time and effort to the club, centre or community throughout the year in one or more unpaid roles. 

The recipient of the Young Volunteer Award is Conner Mackenzie. Conner is deeply involved in Inverness Canoe Club's life as a member and helper for coaches. He's always enthusiastic when helping new members, providing advice in pool sessions and giving a hand in kids' sessions in the pool or on the Ness. He has become an active trip organiser sourcing coaches to deliver river trips on his behalf to raise the capacity of river trips within the club taking control of the planning, organising and assisting with coaching on trips gaining event management and coaching experience. Conner's volunteering hours with the club has assisted him in gaining 500 hour saltire volunteering award this year along with his other involvements.
