Andy Jackson Award for Access
This award is open to those who have achieved great things working to improve and preserve access and/or conserve the canoeing environment.
Winner of the Andy Jackson Award: Dave Craig
Dave is one of the major names in canoe touring in the U.K., having run guided tours on the River Spey since 1964, and having completed over 140 descents of the river. He has been a River Adviser for the SCA for 35 years, and has built up a relationship like no other on a U.K. river with anglers and ghillies. His clients have always been struck by his politeness, hospitality, and attention to detail, and the same qualities have aided the atmosphere on the water.
During the last two years Dave has fought a political battle to try and retain vehicle access at both Ballindalloch and Carron, for all outdoor users, lobbying MSPs and Councillors. As a very competent role model, Dave’s actions and energy are well appreciated by many Scottish paddlers.
