The SCA is pleased to offer financial support to clubs and their volunteers through a series of centrally organised courses where club coaches and leaders can attend at subsidised rates.
In addition, we have a funding opportunity for clubs who wish to organise their own Foundation Safety and Rescue Training or 3 star training/assessment course to support candidates progressing to British Canoeing Level 1 or Level 2 coaching awards. Funding is allocated on a first come first served basis. Find out more here.
Subsidised courses for 2017 are announced as follows:
White Water Safety & Rescue
White Water Kayak Leader Award (previously 4*)
Sea Kayak Leader Award (previously 4*)
Canoe Leader Award (previously 4*)
The above courses are open to SCA Full/Junior Individual Members who are volunteers in an SCA Affiliated Club. Courses are priced at £50 each per person (including the BC candidate fees for WWSR). Book a place online via Self Service or contact the SCA office on 0131 317 7314. We will also require a short supporting statement from the club secretary/chair/coaching officer outlining the benefit this training/award will bring to the club. Please send this to email@example.com. This is designed to ensure the subsidised course meets the needs of the club as well as an individual.
Equipment is not normally provided so participants are required to bring their own kit. Please contact the office if this is not possible and we can try to help.
If you wish to attend multiple courses of the same type e.g. 2 x Sea Leader Training please book to attend your first choice and contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the waitlist for the second course. If there is space, you will be able to attend the second course, however as spaces are strictly limited priority will be given to those only attending one course. We reserve the right to prioritise spaces to clubs who have most need and to refuse bookings from several members of the same club if the course is oversubscribed.
