SUP Coach Award Live

Thu 01 August 2019

On the 30th and 31st July, almost 20 Providers attended the SUP Coach Award Orientation at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottinghamshire. This included 3 SCA members, Dave Rossetter, Sam Dean and Jim Gibson. A further 5 SCA tutors will be trained in September and November.

The Providers got on the water throughout the 2 days, taking part in workshops covering SUP Sheltered Water, SUP Open Water, SUP White Water and SUP Race, working through delivering the relevant Discipline Specific training, as well as classroom based workshops talking through administration processes and supporting candidates.

Qualification Pathway

Sup Coach Award Pathway

To become an SUP Coach, you would firstly attend the generic two day Core Coach training. On this practical course, you will explore different approaches to coaching, understanding and enabling learning, and some core coaching skills. This is a direct entry award and the only prerequisites of the Core Coach Training is National Association Membership.

The next stage is to select the relevant two day Discipline Specific Training. This practical training focuses on how to coach the technical and tactical skills for those using SUPs, in the environment you choose and will help you plan and deliver safe, enjoyable, progressive coaching sessions.

Alongside of the practical training, you will engage in active, independent learning to develop your coaching skills out on the water. This is concluded by a 1 day assessment.

Existing UKCC Level 2 or Coach Award coaches can bypass the Core Coach training and go straight to the Discipline Specific training.
