Team Gold for Eilidh Gibson at the U23 World Championship

C1 W - U23 Team Gold

This weekend was the Junior and U23 world championships, organised in Bratislava (Slovakia).

Bradley Forbes-Cryans (K1 Men U23, CRCats), Eilidh Gibson (C1 Women U23, Strathallan Canoe Club) and Peter Linksted (C1 Men Junior, Stirling & Falkirk Canoe Club) were the Scottish Athletes representing Great Britain at this major event of the season.

Bradley and Peter both finalist, came respectively 5th and 9th in their classes.
Eilidh came close to final and ranked 13th.

On Sunday Eilidh took the GOLD, with GB team member Malory Franklin (who also took the Gold in the U23 C1 Women Event) and Kimberly Woods (who also took the Bronze in the U23 C1 Women Event).

In the Team events, Great Britain also took silver in K1 Women U23 and C1 Men U23.

Congratulation to all the athletes and all the coaches, staff, volunteers and Parents involved.

Later this season, Peter will be racing at the Junior European Championships (Hohenlimburgh, 17-20 August 2017). He will be joined by 4 other Scottish Athletes racing in the U23 Category, Jonny Dickson (K1 Men U23, CRCats) and Alice Haining (K1 Women U23, Selkirk Canoe Club) and Sophie Ogilvie (C1 Women U23, CRCats), Rachel Houston (C1 Women U23, CRCats).

Bradley and Eilidh will now focus on the Senior World Championships together David Florence (C1 Men, Lloyds Register) and Fiona Pennie (K1 Women, CRCats). The Senior World Championship 2017 will be held in Pau from the 23rd September to the 1st October.
