Tutors and Assessors Wanted!

We are currently recruiting for Tutors and Assessors for the British Canoeing Coach Awards due to be launched in January 2018.

These Coach Awards will replace the current Level 2, and Moderate/Advanced Water Endorsements; providing specific qualifications in the competition and non-competitive disciplines, as well as a generic option similar to the current Level 2.

If you are an active, experienced, and qualified paddlesport coach, we encourage you to look at the proposed developments, the application requirements and to apply if it’s something that interests you. We think there are a number of roles that may appeal to you:

  • Level 2 (UKCC) Coaches (or above) may be interested in the Sheltered Water Tutor and Assessor roles.
  • Moderate Water Endorsed, Level 3 and (UKCC) Level 3 Coaches may be interested in the discipline specific Tutor and Assessor Roles (Canoe, Polo, Racing, Sea, Slalom, Surf, White Water Kayak, Wild Water Racing)
  • Advanced Water Endorsed, and Level 4 Coaches may be interested in the Advanced Canoe, Sea, Surf, White Water Kayak Tutor and Assessor Roles.
We are looking for experienced tutors and assessors who should be able to train and assess for the Coach Award following a short period of training and development; AND we are looking to support talented coaches who may be new to the role of tutoring and/or assessing. We predict that we will need our current active workforce moving forward; but are also really committed to bring in new blood, we are hoping that the most active and current coaches will apply including those who may not have previously been involved in coach education.

As part of the development British Canoeing have significantly changed the Provider Requirements. This includes changes to the recruitment procedures, entry requirements and the journey to being able to start working on courses. These changes mean that whilst you may not have been eligible in the past, this may now be different.

If you are interested in delivering these qualifications to support our next generation of paddlesport coaches please see here for more information about the award and here for more information about the process of becoming an Assessor or Tutor.

If you have any questions about the process, or the requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch. The closing date for applications is noon on 21st August 2017.
