Well Run Clubs Conference

Mon 19 November 2018

Last weekend representatives from over 20 clubs across join us at this years Well Run Clubs Conference held at sportscotland Invercylde National Sports Training Centre for a weekend of networking and learning. The weekend was structured on the 6 components of the Well Run Clubs Framework with expert speakers delivering workshops on aspects of each part of the framework.

Saturday morning started off with some participating in an active session on volunteer management and others learning about data protection. These workshops were followed by an in-depth look at how social media can be used to help clubs achieve their aims and objectives. After a well deserved lunch break we analysed effective and poor governance simultaneously whilst others were learning about the important issues of protecting the environment and responsible access. The day was wrapped up with a Safeguarding workshop and also a session where clubs were looking at a tool they can use for future planning.

The SCA Recognition Awards Celebrations followed shortly after the conclusion of the workshops with the deserving winners announced and their prizes presented. After dinner those who were residential put their minds to the test in a Pub quiz with tie breaker finally deciding a winner.

An early start on Sunday saw attendees in sessions discussing British Canoeing Coaching and Personal Performance Awards with other delegates leaning about Planning Progressive Pathways. Then half of the attendees went off to the sports hall participate in a very interactive session on Progressing Paddlers Through Play whilst the others had a workshop on the Deployment of Coaches and Leaders. After lunch the final workshops of the weekend looked at some clubs sharing their successes whilst other attendees looked at Developing Facilities including Funding and Planning.
